SK: Can you elaborate in a sentence or two on your style?

DH: I’m not really sure I have a style. I’m still trying to figure that out, mainly because it’s constantly shifting. One morning I’ll wake up and I’ll want to make a little art video and the next day I’ll want to make a comedy video or maybe I’ll want to write or take pictures or whatever. I guess my style depends on my mood. And I’m kind of a moody person.

SK: What inspired you to make these videos in particular? Were they prompt by a project?

DH: These videos came out of a creative lull I was experiencing a couple years ago. I had just come off of a music video and I was feeling mentally wiped out. You know that frustrating feeling you get when you see something really beautiful and you don’t have a camera? I felt the exact opposite. I had a camera and I had no idea what to do with it. So I forced myself to make a video every week. No matter what the idea was, the only rule was I had to see it through. And it worked, for about 3 months. Then like most things I got tired of doing it and moved on. Did I mention how moody I am?

SK: What’s more gross to eat than veggie cheese? (I knew he had an aversion, so I was curious)

DH:There is nothing more gross than veggie cheese.
